MIT study relates to ChatGPT to be used in the refusal of cognitive

Artificial intelligence chatbots such as Openai chatgpt can reduce the ability to give up, according to a recent study by MIT researchers.

In a Study Through researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab, 54 participants completed the essay writing tasks in three sessions using one of three designated methods and tools: Chatgpt, search engines and their talent only.

In the fourth session, the researchers asked the Chatgpt The team that did not use tools, and the participants of the brain group were asked to use LLM.

Results are surprising, because they reveal the bad memory memory AI usersWith more than 83% of chatgpt users who would not quote from the essays they wrote minutes before.

Scary cognitive losses

Co-Founder of Sales Tech Agency Coldiq, Alex Vacca, described The results as “awkward,” adding that AI does not make us more productive, “it makes cognitively bankrupt.”

“You are writing something, pressing to save, and your brain has already forgotten because Chatgpt has made the mind.”

Researchers said the brain connection is “systematic -scale” with the value of external support.

“The brain group only showed the strongest, broadest networks, the search engine group showed intermediate interaction, and the help of LLM demanded the weakest overall coupling,” they said.

Accumulation of “cognitive debt”

Researchers used Electroencephalography (EEG) to record brain activity to assess participants’ relationships and cognitive loading with activities.

They have found that an accumulation of “cognitive debt” may arise from repetitive reliance on external systems such as LLMs, replacing the providing processes required for independent thinking.

“Cognitive debt indicates a short-term mental effort but results in long-term costs, such as reduced critical inquiry, increased manipulation weakness, decreased creativity.”

Impact on Study Capability

The paper, which has not been reviewed by the peer, suggests that the use of Ai LLMs can damage education, especially for younger users.

“In this study, we show the pressing of a likely decrease in learning skills based on the results of our study,” concluded researchers.

Researchers said the “longitudinal study” is required to understand the long-term impact of AI chatbots on the human brain, “before LLMs are recognized as something positive for humans.”

When Cointelegraph asked Chatgpt for his studies in studying, the Chatbot Replied, “This study does not say that chatgpt is naturally harmful -instead, it warns against excessive certainty without constipation or effort.”
