Crypto-friendly national security rules threatened: Sean Casten representative

During the March 5 hearing of the home’s financial service committee, US representative Sean Casten, a Congressman of Illinois, argued that “Crypto’s friendship rules” threaten US national security.
The lawmaker made the comments while arguing with HR 1716, the “Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act of 2025,” accusing President Donald Trump and Elon Musk to abolish anti-money laundering and financial monitoring laws. Casten added:
“They force Crypto’s friendly policies that will make it impossible to determine the resource of funds used to move. I would like to point out that 100% of ransomware attacks in the United States are funded by crypto.”
“And yet my colleagues make crypto use easier, reduce administration, and make traffic money easier,” the lawmaker continued.
