A group of developers within the Ethereum ecosystem, which operates independently of the Ethereum Foundation, announced the Ethereum R1-a layer-2 (L2) scaling solution for the Ethereum network excluding a native token.
According to the announcement, the project depends highly on donations, no adventure funds, and no pre-mined token allocations or a management token. The project team wrote on a May 1 x Post:
“General L2 goals should be goods-simple, convertible, and free from centralized dependencies or dangerous management. The Ethereum R1 is our answer to that call-the rollup based on credible neutrality, decentralization, and resistance to censorship.”
