Azuki Announces Native ANIME Token, Related NFTs Up 9.1%
The non-fungible token (NFT) project Azuki has announced the release of ANIME, a Japanese cartoon-themed token described in website as a “coin of culture.”
The price of Azuki NFTs rose 9.1% following the announcement, with the cheapest NFT selling for 13.77 ETH ($42,000), according to CoinGecko.
“We’ve acquired Anime.com, soon to launch with Animecoin as the home for global anime fandom,” Azuki wrote on X. “And now, with the Animecoin Foundation, we’re building the next arc for in anime … Our mission remains the same: to build an open anime universe.”
The token will be distributed with a strong focus on the community, with 50.5% of the total supply allocated to the community, 37.5% of which will be fully unlocked at launch while an additional 13% “will be managed by ANIME holders in the future . AnimeDAO to fund community incentives and initiatives.”
The company’s team and advisors will receive 15.6% of the supply tied to a three-year vesting schedule.
The move to issue a native token follows Pudgy Penguins, which issued PENGU in December which now has a market cap of $1.87 billion.
