Binance, Kraken prevented social engineering attacks similar to Coinbase Hack

Binance and Kraken, two of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, have recently been targeted by a wave of social engineering attacks similar to the one that led to a major data violation of Coinbase.

Hackers approached customer support agents with bribery offers and detailed instructions for contacting attacks by telegram, The Bloomberg report The people are familiar with this matter. Both exchanges have managed to hinder attempts without losing any customer data.

The exchanges are faced with tactics reflecting those used against Coinbase (coin), which earlier this week revealed to be expected to pay $ 180 million to $ 400 million in remediation costs and customer fees after Attacks get access to their personal information.

That violation led to a $ 20 million ransom demand after attacking bribes to Coinbase’s employees/contractors to obtain customer information. The exchange fired the staff involved and contacted law enforcement.

In Binance, indoor systems including artificial intelligence bots have helped discover bribe-related messages, shutting down conversations before they rise. The rules that limit access to customer data unless users have started contacts have also helped prevent risk.

The reported Coinbase began seeing unusual activity in January, and last December, rival exchanges began warning the company about the unusual activity targeted by the largest client.
