Algoand Foundation’s name is former RIP Engineer Nikolaos Baug CTO



The Algorand Foundation has tapped Nikolaos Bougalis, a cryptography veteran and former Ripple Engineering lead, as the new chief technology official, the company said in a press release Monday.

Bougalis, who has spent almost a decade on the development of the open-source XRP Ledger, will lead Algorand’s engineering efforts and will help advance the 2025 technical roadmap.

Algorand’s Algo (ALGO) token trades 2.6% above 24 hours next to a general rally at crypto prices.

Algorand’s roadmap, shown in July, focuses on decentralization, web3 adoption, business use cases, and cutting of cryptography. Bougalis is expected to play a key role in the alignment of foundation and algorand technology around those goals.

“Nik brings a wealth of experience to shared systems, cryptography, and blockchain, as well as a shown ability to protect communities of collaboration,” Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden said on the release. “He will help us double down decentralization, performance, and security.”

Bougalis is based on the US as the foundation aims to expand its footprints to domestic businesses and institutions seeking the following, measured blockchain infrastructure.

His security background and cryptography is expected to strengthen Algorand’s work in privacy, resistance to total and scalability.

Algorand, launched in 2019, aims to offer instant finality and low fees for builders creating projects on asset payments, identity, supply chains, and tokenization. Today’s ecosystem includes millions of users and a global network of developers who use familiar programming languages ​​such as python and typekrip.
