The US Senate confirms Paul Atkins to lead the SEC under Trump

The United States Senate confirmed that US president Donald Trump chose Paul Atkins as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission in a 51-45 vote, along with lawmakers who voted better with the party lines.
His appointment came several months after Trump named the Atkins to lead the commission last year.
Atkins had previously served as a SEC commissioner between 2002 and 2008.
He will take from Mark Uyeda, who has served as the SEC acting since January 20.
“We invite Paul Atkins as the next SEC chairman. A veteran of our commission, we expect him to join us, along with our dedicated staff, to fulfill our public name on public name,” Uyeda and commissioners Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw write In a statement of April 9.
