A crypto wallet tied to the defunct dark market Market Alphabay was reported behind the donation of $ 31 million worth of Bitcoin to Silk Road Ross Ulbricht, according to a blockchain review.
Blockchain Analytics Firm Chainalysis is said to wired for a June 5 Report this is tied to 300 bitcoin (Btc) Given to Ulbrich Earlier this month In Alphabid, a Silk Road predecessor that operates from 2014 to 2017.
The chainalysis suggested that the funds came from a major seller on the platform that would have access to such a large amount.
“We have reasonable grounds to suspect that these funds come from Alphabay,” said the Chainalysis Director of Investigations Phil Larratt. “Looking at the value, suggesting that they come from someone who possibly a salesman to alphabid back in the early days.”
Independent blockchain Sleuth ZachXBT confirmed that 300 Bitcoin did not come from the Silk Road and mentioned the suspected patterns on how the donor moved the funds.
They used multiple mixing services to diminish the transaction transaction and released other cryptocurrencies in small amounts to prevent discovery, which he suggested that the criminal origins indicated.
Zachxbt Says In X that the donation appears to be derived from a “sketchy centralized mixing service,” called Jambler, while normal privacy lovers use decentralized mixers such as Wasabi and the now-defunctal Samurai.

The review suggested that the money was a “legitimate donation, but not legitimate funding,” Zachxbt told Wired.
“Using multiple mixers, spreading CEX deposits (centralized exchanges), etc., which are usually done if you are trying to avoid obtaining prohibited frost funds,” he said.
Alphabid Takedown to BTC links
Chainalysis has helped identification of the addresses related to alphain, which plays an important role in Takedown of the Darknet Marketplace in an investigation known as the “Operation Bayonet” that has been in 2016 and 2017.
