London Stock Exchange Group Debuts Blockchain Platform for Private Fund

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has launched an infrastructure platform based on the blockchain for private funds, making it the first major global stock exchange to launch such a system.

The platform, called Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI), supports the entire lifecycle of digital assets, from release and tokenization to post-trade settlement. It was developed with Microsoft and running on Microsoft Azure, the exchange Says Monday.

The LSEG said the system was designed to provide interoperability between the shared ledger technology and traditional financial systems as part of its goal to become the first global exchange group to support clients throughout the “full continuation of funding.”

Private funds are the first class of owner to live with DMI, with plans for additional classes.

As part of the initial offer, private funds in DMI will be discovered by workspace users, which enables general partners to contact professional investors on these platforms.

The London-based Capital Management Firm Memberscap and London, a Financial Conduct Authority-Regulated Crypto Exchange, was the first clients aboard. Memberscap is conducting a platform’s debut transaction with Archax acting as a nominee for the Cardano Foundation.
