Arthur Hayes, the former CEO of Crypto Exchange Bitmex, was given the forgiveness of US President Donald Trump, according to A Friday report from CNBC.
Trump also reported that Hayes’ co-founders were also forgiven in Bitmex, Samuel Reed and Benjamin Delo.
In 2020, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) brought charges against Bitmex, its three co-founders, and its first employee, Gregory Dwyer, accused of breaking the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Prosecutors who are said to have announced itself as a place where customers can use its platform almost anonymously, without providing basic information-your-customer (KYC). The lawyers representing Hayes, Delo and Reed did not immediately return requests for the comment.
The reported forgiveness came just one day after Trump’s forgiveness to Trevor Milton, the former CEO of Nikola Motors who had previously been convicted of fraud in 2022.
