Questions and answers with Austin Fedira on Doublezero

With the maturity of the Blockchain ecosystem, the speed and efficiency of the contract of the contract has become more than just technical considerations – they are strategic necessities. The charge in this field is led by Austin Fedira, the former head of the Solana Foundation, which is Prepare to launch DoublezeroDesigned Protocol to redefine how Blockchains communicate and its size.

In a large -scale conversation with Coindsk, Federa has taken the motivation behind Definzero, the challenges you address from which it may come out, and why its vision of the high -performance communication layer could be the basis for the generation of decentralized systems.

Doublezero was first announced in December 2024 as a Blockchain layer aimed at faster than the Internet, and therefore it is necessary for encryption trades. Since then, approximately 12.57 % of Sol Staked has been working on Testnet Doublezero. The launch of Mainnet is expected to take place at some point in September.

This interview was released for briefing and clarity.

Coindsk: Explain how Definezero works for a new person in Crypto.

Austin Fedira: I think one of the easiest ways to explain what we build is that we are building an encryption version of Flash Buise.

This was in fact this transformative moment, as people somewhat realized that your implementation in the implementation place in a central trading place is no longer your actual trade logic or the speed of the computer that you delivered in the market, but rather the speed with which you can get data between different points where the market events occur. This was a really great change in industry, because the time of transit was not [previously] It is considered terrible.

You can return and watch Formula 1 races from the eighties, it is just a cigarette break while the hole stopped, then one of them realized, “O man, we are actually leaving a lot of time on the path through this hole is not improved.” It is really quite similar in trading space.

So for encryption, the idea of using something is faster than the public internet (You can use a network that you can use technologies on not available on the general Internet)It is not necessarily a new idea. The problem was, until Doublezero came, it should be managed by one central company and not to allow multiple independent shareholders.

The main technology, philosophy and economic opening of the Doublezero protocol is that it allows many shareholders who have their fiber networks to contribute to the parts or all this fiber network to Doublezero. It builds a very giant and high -performance network network that connects people all over the world.

Coindsk: Why is the construction of Solana?

Federa: We are not actually based on Solana. We have a separate professor notebook system, but not a network that has ever publishes a smart contract, it is just an accounting database.

The reason we support Solana first … is that Solana is unique. If you look at the fast Blockchains, then look at the number of the node, there is a percentage of transactions per second to the number of nodes, no one approaches Solana.

Any network is located anywhere near Solana’s performance 1/5 to 1/10 of the actual number of nodes. Thus, the problem of communications is a problematic problem. The more nodes you have in the system, and the greater the number of places you need to get data, the more the frequency range you need, the more the bottleneck becomes the bottle.

So, the greater and faster Blockchain network gets, the more the bottleneck of this network will move quickly. Thus, the real goal behind what we are doing is to allow Blockchains to move faster than the public internet, without the need to drop the number of node or add central.

We believe that Definzero has a lot of apps from Solana only, and much more applications of just Blockchain. But this is where the biggest need is currently. You look at the other Blockchains there, and they don’t have these problems yet.

Coindsk: How can Solana to Deablezero connect?

Federa: We Get a session gathering It is dodging to the contract on Definezero. As a percentage of the class, it is very small, it is about 3 million Sol, (There are 500 million Sol)So it is not a large amount of Seoul. This was originally imagined as a way to help support the cost of auditors working on our test, but it turned out that people were very interested in operating on Testnet, and so it was a really great tool to get more people on the network.

When we launch Mainnet Data in September, it will be more than 50 different fiber links. Currently eight. Many links will be ten times faster than the links that we have today in terms of their ability. So the transition from 10 GB to 200 Gigett communications.

We see in the future, when you get enough class on Doublezero, Solana protocol designers are now able to raise the border level higher than they can on the public Internet, because there is more capacity on Doublezero more than available for general working online stones today, which is a lower connection. So, the data transmission in fact, you can not only send more data, but this data reaches more quickly than it could be otherwise.

Coindsk: So in your world, there is a scenario here: you have a general internet, or you have something like Doublezero. If you want to accomplish something faster, faster, or other advantages for your trade, you will go to the Doublezero path. Does this create inequality between the performance between the auditors on Solana?

Federa: We get a copy of this [question] a lot. The question you ask yourself is, is the Internet a central power? The Internet is basically only 20 companies that have most of the connection. Today, if all the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development suddenly say, “No more encryption”, everything mainly but Bitcoin screams.

So when we are honest about what we feel here, the importance is not to completely get rid of the Internet. It is to ensure that the Internet is as a reserve, as a censorship path. Thus, if Doublezero is not connected to the Internet, or if there is a bad actor in the Doublezero network, he decides to try to monitor the blocs or anything alongside the control data through which it moves, two things will happen:

First, this is why we have nine independent contributors to the network, so you will only track the data around them, and we can mainly expel the contributor outside the network. The second thing is, we always have the general internet to return. Now this may require a decrease from 500,000 transactions per second to 10,000 transactions per second. But this is not a bad failure.

This is a type of classic, “there is traffic congestion on the highway, I will take a boycott route at the moment.”

Coindsk: So Mainnet will come very soon. What happens from time to time?

Federa: It is a lot of tests, it’s a lot of sure that we are completely ready to go. Then it is clear that it is a project based on the distinctive symbol. So there is a symbolic launch that will also be in line with that, and also in September.
