Bitcoiner thought of ‘massive’ bot spam briefly lowered the mailing list to bitcoin

One of the major bitcoin communication tools used to discuss potential protocol changes has been knocked down for hours starting on April 2, with a moderator thinking that this may be a target attack assisted by bots.
For hours throughout April 2 and 3, Bitcoin Core developers and researchers will not interact with Google groups after Google banned the group for spam.
“The Bitcoin Development’s Development Development listing has been identified as contains spam, malware, or other malicious content,” Google’s warning said at that time.

Bitcoin core developer Bryan Bishop told Cointelegraph that the ban could have been triggered by individuals or bots reporting the Bitcoin Mailing listing list from multiple accounts.
This is a common tactic of attacking attacks to prohibit OI -censor a community, Bishop said, noting that similar incidents are happening on YouTube, X and Tiktok quite often.
“So it is possible that this whole thing could be that it could be triggered by something like this. It could have been just someone who clicked those links on a massive scale to report it.”
Google Workspace Support’s X account confirmed That the issue was resolved on April 3 at 2:23 AM UTC in response to one of the other Moderators of Bitcoin Mailing list Ruben Somsen.
Bitcoin advocate and head of Block Inc, Jack Dorsey, also called attention to the ban, Encouraging Google CEO Sundar Pichai to investigate the issue.

Mailing lists usually involve an email that sends information to subscribers to a group to discuss and cooperate with a subject or shared interest.

Bishop suggested that a Bitcoin forum should not be limited to a particular platform, pointing out that there are many other platforms on which bitcoin developments, including Github and the Decentralized Social Network Nostr.
