An Indian anti-corruption court penalized 14 individuals, including 11 police officers and a former member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of the legislative assembly (MLA), in imprisonment in a case involving the kidnapping and expanding crypto from a 2018-based businessman.
The judgment, delivered by special judge BB Jadav to Ahmedabad on Friday, found a group guilty of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping for ransom, illegal restraint, and attacking, According to In a Times of India report.
Among those convicted were former superintendents of the Amreli district of the police Jagdish Patel and Ex-MLA Nalin Kotadiya. All 11 police officers, including former IPs officer Patel, were also found guilty under the corruption act for the misconduct of public servants.
