Doublezero mainnet is live with 22% of staked sol on board

A new project wants to give the blockchains their own “fast line” on the Internet. The Doublezero Foundation on Thursday announced that the highly expected Mainnet-beta was live.

Doublezero is a network developed to accelerate how blockchain validators Talk to each other. Instead of relying on the public internet, which can sometimes be slow and unpredictable, Solana validators can now connect through doublezero fiber routes, which users will transact faster.

In simple terms, the doublezero is like a private highway system for blockchains. While normal Internet routes are designed to be cheap and broad, they are not built for split-second coordination of thousands of blockchain nodes needed. Doublezero said the network reduces the lag and makes it easier for validators to process transactions and remain in the sync, which can improve both performance and reliability for end users.

“Blockchains and other global distributed systems rely on thousands of nodes that connect real time. The efficiency of their communication layer directly affects security, flexibility and the user’s end experience,” said Austin Federa, the doublezero co-founder, in a press release shared with Coindesk.

The project found an early adoption. Currently, 22% of staked sol is plugged in the doublezero network. Large industry names such as Jump Crypto, Galaxy, Rockawayx, and Jito have contributed links to fiber and engineering resources, as estimating that the Internet infrastructure will be faster as a scale of blockchain applications.

In March, doublezero Raised $ 28 million and to $ 400 million In appreciation, with the Dragonfly and Multicoin Capital leading the initial funding.

Fuel is the doublezero’s own token, called 2Z, built in Solana. Validators and stakers use the token to access the network’s high-speed routes, with rewards tied to how much utility they provide.

Earlier this week, the US Securities and Exchange Commission released a letter with no action To doublezero, let them move forward with the launch of native network tokens.

While the launch is now focused on Solana, Doublezero’s ambitions have moved away. “As part of its roadmap, the Doublezero aims to expand the chain-bag-magnostic network to support additional blockchains and high-performance distributed systems,” the team wrote in their press release.
