Vitalik Blerin says the app layer requires ‘good philosophy of society’

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin argues that this is the Ethereum application layer, not its infrastructure layer, where Ethereum requires “good social philosophy”.
The app layer is where the developers build decentralized applications at the top of Ethereum’s base infrastructure And where they make decisions about how these programs work.
In a post on April 12 on the social media platform Warpcast, Buterin Reply In a user’s argument that Ethereum requires a new generation of developers rooted in the main values of Ethereum change itself. He argued that this was the app layer that needed it.
“Apps are 80% special goals. What apps you are building depends on what ideas you have on what Ethereum apps, and Ethereum altogether, should be made for the world. And so having good ideas on this topic has been important on the cross,” Baterin said.

In comparison, Blerin said a programming language such as C ++ may not be influenced by the ideology of the creator, as it is a tool that is a general goal that does not have much surface that is worse or improved by social philosopher.
“Imagine that C ++ was made by a totalitarian racist fascist. Is this a worse language? Probably not,” he said.
Ethereum 1 layer is similar to an extent, Bullerin’s dispute, though it is more exposed to philosophical influence, citing its moving to proof-of-stake (POS) and supporting light clients as examples.
“A person who does not believe in decentralization does not add lightweight clients, or good account abstraction forms,” he said.
“A person who does not think of energy waste will not spend half a decade switching to POS, but the Ethereum Virtual Machine Opcode may be almost the same in the way. So Ethereum is probably 50% general goal,” Baterin added.
Apps with great social philosophy compared to bad
In a follow-up post, buterin said A user in his opinion, the Crypto Privacy Protocol Railgun, Web3 Social Protocol Farcaster, Decentralized prediction in the Polymarket market And the Messenger app signal is examples of apps with great social philosophy.

“You build apps that do the right thing behind the scenes by default. The signal is a reasonable good example of it, even if it has significant flaws of itself. The farcaster is also a good example of this,” Baterin Says.

On the other hand, Blerin said the Memecoin platform pump.fun, the crumble of crypto ecosystem Terra, native token Terra (Luna), and the collapsed crypto exchange ftx are examples of bad social philosophers.
“The differences are different from what the app is doing from differences -different beliefs among the leaders of the developers about what’s here to accomplish,” he said.
