‘We’re going to —eutomate all the jobs’

Someday you will be out of a job. So do I, so is your neighbor, so is your best friend, and so do all your family. All of our jobs are automatic, thanks to AI. This is the prediction of Shaw Walters (which in Web3 style usually goes to “Shaw”), Eliza Labs founder, and creator of Elizaos.
“We’re going to go automate all the jobs. Like, all the jobs will be automatic,” Shaw said. “There will be no jobs. And it should not be, because any work that I can get a robot to do is under me. And I think we’ll be back at this time like returning to bondage. Like, ‘What is the fuck doing?'”
Onstage to AI Summit in Consensus 2025Shaw can release this theory with a keynote titled, “How do AI agents and humanoid robots recreate society … and why crypto is the key.” Here he provides a quick sneak peek.
The interview is that -condemned and lightly edited for clarity.
What makes you most entertaining about AI agents?
Personally, this is a kind of selfish finding. I didn’t want to sit at my desk all day with my shoulders twisted, becoming this troll coding throughout the day.
All I want to do is rotate around and tell my agents to do things and code for me. The coding got to the point where I had another window up, and I just put Gemini in the cursor. I’m just starting to speak and say, “Hey, this is what I want. I want you to change it, this, and it,” and it just starts to go.
And why not just be embodied? Why don’t I just walk down the street talking to my agent and it writes my code for me? Why do I have to sit here attached to this table? So I really want to unbox the user’s interface in person for myself, and I’m with my agent wherever I go. I’ll only call it if I have an idea. It answers my email.
What do you think will be the first case of killing agents that actually goes?
Well, definitely coding. This is the first case.
It’s fair. But what about normies, for non -coders?
Well for us (in Eliza), these are social agents. And then I run a distant Dao team and community, right? We have 20 people working day -day and having a code. I have a chat chat now of eight people. And we have 20 Discord channels and we have a Telegram. So we have all this communication that happens in all these areas, and we have clear problems that everyone has. I don’t know what’s going on in most chats. I don’t have the time to read most of it.
I wish it was just a summary for me. They should be like, “Hey, what is this person working today?” And it was like, “Oh, he worked here. He answered it.” Well. So we have a bot that just does that. It checks every single employee day -day and gets (updating status) from them. And it monitors every single chat and all our digital spaces and summarizes everything.
Why, in your mind, is crypto important to the greater vision of AI agents? Why is web3 necessary?
I think it’s very difficult for me to give an agent a PayPal account. But I can only spin a purse for this agent and that agent. I can build a game where I like, “I need 10,000 purses.” Because what I’m really doing is providing an agent of the ability to prove that it itself has a cryptographic -signing tool, as I give other users. So agents are just proxies for other users and they get the same benefits that any other user makes.
But I think there’s a bigger question here on why crypto? And I think the reason is because I think we should create our own money. This is not a power we must give to states, though states have the ability to implement it with strength. So there is a bigger question of, what war do we fight for here?
This is something I will share with what I am talking about. We will go to –utomate all the jobs. Like, all jobs will be automatic. No jobs. And there It should not be Be, because any task I get a robot to do is under me. And I think we’ll be back at this time like returning to bondage. Like, “What are we doing?”
We do everything that works for dollars all their time. That’s crazy about me. They should be chasing their passions. They should have asked, “Why are we here and what are we doing?” They should form their own basis of spirituality rather than just work days. And so, in that fact, well, there is a big problem.
I can think of a few…
If there is no work, we have no money. But really none of the rich in our country are working. How do they make money? They are investing. And I think this is the world we need to live in, where we are all investing, and no workers. It is only frustrating to me that we live in a world where all the rich are not working, and we think the way to be rich.
I try to describe it. It is wild to think of a world where no one has a job, and all the work is under us.
Inevitable.
Are we writing poetry all day? How do we fill our time? What does mankind look like?
Okay, so let’s say that you somehow received an airdrop that you put on a project, and now you have something like $ 80 million worth. What do you do? What is your next move?
I see where you are going here. So the idea is that you are thinking about what your passions are, and how do you spend your time if you have unlimited money? And then that’s what you do in this world where all the jobs automatically.
Yes. I’m going to my computer working on AGI. I will work all day.
Let’s go there now. What do you guess when we get to AGI, or If We got to AGI?
What is agi?
(Both laugh.)
So, does the AGI to you indicate sentience?
Well, my favorite coined term is that AGI is the thing that computers haven’t done yet. What about that?
Pretty Zeno’s ParadoxIsn’t it? It will forever be out of its grip.
Yes, we normalize the fact that, like, I can talk to chatgpt in the voice on my phone and get instant answers to almost anything. Like, we’re sitting here with chatgpt’s tarot readings, and give us answers to how “Magic: The Gathering” works.
Wild time! Thanks Shaw, it’s fun. See us in Toronto. Can’t wait for your talk.
