Crypto-friendly former congressman Patrick Mchenry joined A16Z as a senior advisor



Former chair of the US House Financial Service Committee Patrick Mchenry (RN.C.), who retired in January, joined Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) as a senior advisor.

Mchenry announced his new role in Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm on a Wednesday X post. Mchenry was the acting speaker of the house for a few weeks in 2023 after former spokesman Kevin McCarthy was removed.

“Extremely long, the DC has created barriers for startups and emerging companies. It’s time to –level the field of gaming and ensure that little tech – the next generation of builders – gets A fair shooting. Make sure the policy manufacturers understand why the innovation needs a room to develop, ”Mchenry wrote.

Mchenry spent the last few years of his 20-year career in Congress promoting the crypto industry and building a foundation for a long-awaited framework of crypto regulation. He sponsored the financial change and technology for the 21st century of the law (FIT21) —a measure structure of the market that, if passed, would give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) a greater power to handle the industry of crypto. He also worked with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) In Bipartisan Stablecoin law.

A16Z is one of the largest crypto-friendly Super Pac Fairshake funds in the final cycle of election, contributing approximately $ 70 million. It is already committed $ 116 million for the next election cycle.
